The BE@RBRICK Story

“Every grain, pattern, and nuance of the stone is different.
This gives each BE@RBRICK its very own unique identity.”

MS. Fox, Artist

With the "ANCIENT GREEN" edition, the iconic BE@RBRICK silhouette transitions into a permanent, museum-quality work of art. Conceived by artist MS. Fox, this sculpture is realized through an official collaboration between MM-Kontor, the natural stone atelier Marmor-Möller, MEDICOM TOY, and AMS Yacht Art Advisory, successfully bridging pop culture and fine art.

Made in Germany, the careful manufacture ensures no two sculptures are alike; each is impossible to replicate. Created with the ambition of entering important private and institutional collections.

Each work is meticulously crafted from a single, solid block of stone. Standing 72 cm tall and weighing approximately 54 kilograms, the sculpture combines advanced stone milling techniques with traditional hand-finishing. Despite the rigid complexity of the massive material, every joint remains fully articulated and movable.

Unlike traditional collectible editions, no two sculptures are identical. The natural composition of the stone ensures that each work possesses its own unique visual character, making every sculpture a singular object.

Following the institutional recognition of the previous Onyx edition at the Moco Museum, this new edition invites collectors to enter a chapter defined by uncompromising craftsmanship and sculptural perfection. The production is strictly limited to 10 works and 2 Artist Proofs worldwide.

A new icon: “ANCIENT GREEN”

"ANCIENT GREEN" classified internationally as a premium green natural stone. Formed 300 to 500 million years ago through intense metamorphic geological processes, the material is defined by its exceptional density and hardness. Its aesthetic is characterized by a deep green-olive background interwoven with contrasting dark and light mineral veins that evoke the dynamism of a rushing river and the depth of untouched nature. This intricate, unparalleled geological pattern ensures that every piece crafted from it possesses an unmistakable and entirely individual character.

THE BIRTH OF AN ICON
Technical brilliance meets handcrafted natural stone.

Behind the familiar silhouette of the BE@RBRICK STONE lies a remarkable feat of engineering. The greatest challenge of this project was uncompromisingly translating the untouchable original form into solid natural stone while keeping the sculpture fully articulated. Due to the weight, organic shape, and uncompromising nature of the material, entirely new, hidden joint systems had to be developed from the ground up. This highly complex mechanics makes it possible to securely move and precisely adjust the individual elements – such as the head, torso, arms, hands, and legs – in incremental steps. The finished collector's object unites high-precision 3D scanning and demanding 5-axis CNC machining with final perfection by the hands of master artisans.

The Aura of an Icon: The BE@RBRICK Phenomenon

Since its inception in 2001, the MEDICOM TOY BE@RBRICK has exerted an unparalleled gravitational pull on collectors worldwide. The profound fascination stems from a brilliant paradox: a strictly defined, unchanging silhouette that acts as an infinite mirror for contemporary culture. It is an object that seamlessly absorbs the zeitgeist, uniting the exclusivity of fine art, the raw energy of street culture, and the prestige of high luxury. For its dedicated global community, the BE@RBRICK long ago ceased to be a mere designer figure. It has evolved into a powerful cultural currency. To pursue, curate, and possess these elusive releases is to hold a physical manifestation of modern design history – a bold statement of insider access, elevated taste, and absolute relevance.

Where collectible Culture meets contemporary Art

Unveiled at Moco Museum London during Frieze Week 2025, The Onyx BE@RBRICK redefines what a collectible can be.

Carved from a single block of pure onyx, fully articulated, and limited to only two sculptures worldwide, this extraordinary work transforms one of the most recognisable icons of urban culture into timeless fine art.

A collaboration between MEDICOM TOY, Mr. B, and Marmor-Möller, this piece represents a new chapter in the dialogue between luxury materials, pop symbolism, and sculptural excellence.

The iconic BE@RBRICK crafted from real stone

The vision behind this collaboration was to create something truly artistic and sculptural, while honoring the iconic BE@RBRICK form.

Marmor-Möller is responsible for both the conceptual design and the exceptional craftsmanship that brings these pieces to life.

Due to its materiality each BE@RBRICK sculpture is entirely unique – an individual work of art.

Originally launched in 2001 by Japanese company MEDICOM TOY, BE@RBRICKS have become iconic collectibles at the intersection of contemporary art, street culture, and design.

These stylized, bear-shaped figures – ranging in size and often produced in limited editions – have served as creative canvases for world-renowned artists, fashion houses, and cultural institutions.

Today, BE@RBRICKS are more than playful objects - they are considered sought-after art pieces, reflecting cultural trends and artistic expression in an accessible sculptural form.
